TC 242: Wisdom of Weeds and Urban Foraging

In this episode of the Transformation Cafe podcast, host Robin Masiewicz and regulars Gloria and Jamie discuss wild edible plants. Edible plants can be found everywhere from the open fields and hills to the suburbs.

Robin mentions a video she saw featuring Katrina Blair. Katrina’s book The Wild Wisdom of Weeds: 13 Essential Plants for Human Survival is now available.

” The Wild Wisdom of Weeds is the only book on foraging and edible weeds to focus on the thirteen weeds found all over the world, each of which represents a complete food source and extensive medical pharmacy and first-aid kit.  More than just a field guide to wild edibles, it is a global plan for human survival.”

Below is a video featuring Katrina Blair “shopping” outside for free food for her Local Wild Life Cafe at the Turtle Lake Refuge in Colorado.

Urban Foraging

The Los Angeles Times featured horticulturist Nance Klehm in the week’s Lifestyle section. Nance will be holding an Urban Foraging workshop on February 22. Detail can be found at Otherwild.
