Key points:
  • To overcome fear of public speaking, you need to practice. Carolyn recommends Toastmasters to help you practice speaking in front of a group and receive constructive feedback.
  • Recognize that you are the “expert in the room”. You have something of value to share with your audience.
  • Develop a 30 – 60 second “elevator speech” that summarizes your value proposition. Carolyn likes a format that starts with a question or “hook”.
  • End with a call to action, something like “Visit my website for a free e-book”, or “Contact me at 888-555-1234 to set up a consultation”.
