What is Qigong?

Qigong (also known as Chi Kung) can be traced back nearly 5,000 in Chinese culture. The basic components of Qigong exercise include concentration, relaxation, meditation, breathing regulation, body posture, and movement. According to the philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine, Qigong exercise aims to achieve a harmonious flow of vital energy and regulate the functional activities of the body through regulated breathing, mindful concentration, and gentle movements.

The word Qigong is made up of two Chinese words:
  • Qi (pronounced chee) is usually translated as life force or vital energy.
  • Gong (pronounced gung) means accomplishment or skill that is cultivated through steady practice.

Together Qigong means cultivating energy.

One of the really interesting parts of the discussion is how practicing Qigong can not only improve your health, but it can help at work, either as an individual or as part of a team. You are more focused and less stressed, which can lead to better problem-solving and more creativity. That’s why many large organizations are starting to offer Qigong classes after work.

Kiyomi says that if you already practice yoga, seated meditation, Reiki healing, or other practices, Qigong can enhance your practice. And if you practice regularly, everything you do will become easier. You’ll have more focus, more energy, and be able to accomplish more. It can even enhance your love life.

You can do different things with Qigong – you can use it to heal yourself, heal others, and build up energy for creative purposes. Anything we do takes energy, so the more energy we have and the better it flows, the better we feel, and the more things we can do

Can anyone learn Qigong?

You don’t have to be in shape have good flexibility to begin working with Qigong – you can start from wherever you are, with the principle of doing your best and going at your own pace.
